  • What Is Google AdWords?
  • AdWords is a platform that allows advertisers to place text advertisements on websites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
  • It works by paying publishers to display their ads. The publisher gets paid based on how many people click on them.
  • There are two types of ads that are available through Google Adwords:
  • • Display ads – These appear as sponsored links at the top right-hand corner of the page. They are usually displayed next to search results.
  • • Search ads – These appear as text ads within the search box. They are usually displayed below the search box.
  • How Do People Find My Website?
  • When someone searches for something online, they type keywords into the search bar. If your website appears in the search results, you will see who searched for those words and where they came from.
  • These are called “search referrals.”
  • Google uses these search referrals to determine which sites should rank higher than others.
  • For example, if someone searches for “best dog food,” your site might not be ranked very high because no one else is ranking for that keyword.
  • But if someone searches for “dog food reviews” or “best dog foods,” your site may rank higher because other pages are ranking for those terms.
  • How Can I Get Started With Google AdWords?
  • To get started with Google AdWords, you must create a Google Account.
  • Once you have created an account, you can log in and begin creating your first campaign.

Step 1: Create A Campaign

  • Log in to your Google AdWords account and select “Create a new campaign.”
  • On the left side menu, choose “Campaigns” under “Tools & Services.”
  • Next, enter a name for your campaign.
  • Choose either “Search Network Only” or “Display Network Only.
  • “Click “Create Campaign” once you have made your selection.

Step 2: Choose Keywords

  • Select “Keyword Tool” from the left sidebar menu.
  • Enter the keywords you wish to target.
  • Use the dropdown menus to adjust your settings.
  • Include negative keywords. Negative keywords help prevent your ads from showing up on pages that aren’t relevant to your audience.
  • For example, say you sell shoes. You wouldn’t want your ads to show up on pages about running.
  • Set bid amounts.
  • Bid amounts are how much money you are willing to pay per click.
  • The higher the CPC, the more likely your ad will be shown.
  • Adjust your budget.
  • Your budget determines how much you are willing to spend on clicks.
  • The lower your budget, the less likely your ad will be seen.
  • You can always increase your budget later.
  • If you don’t have enough budget, you won’t be able to run any ads.

Step 3: Set Goals

  • Goals allow you to track the performance of your ads.
  • They give you insight into whether your ads are working.
  • Setting goals helps you figure out what changes need to be made to improve your campaign.
  • You can set goals for each day, week, month, quarter, and year.
  • After setting your goals, you can view reports that tell you how well your campaigns are performing.

Step 4: Select Locations

  • Select a location to place your ads.
  • This is important because it allows you to target specific locations.
  • For example, you could only advertise in California if you wanted to attract Californians.
  • Or you could advertise in all 50 states if you were trying to reach everyone.
  • You can also use this option to target different countries.

Step 5: Add Negative Keywords

  • Add negative keywords to help prevent your ads from appearing on irrelevant pages.
  • For example, let’s say you sell shoes.
  • You wouldn’t want your ads showing up on pages like “running shoes. “So add “shoes” as a negative keyword.

Step 6: Target Audience

  • Targeting your audience is essential when using Google AdWords.
  • It lets you know who sees your ads and which ones perform best.
  • When selecting your audience, make sure you include people who fit your ideal customer profile.
  • That way, you’ll be reaching the right customers.

Step 7: Bid Amount

  • Set bids based on your budget and desired results.
  • For example, if you’re only spending $10 a day, you probably shouldn’t go above $1.00.However, if you’re spending $100 a day, you should consider bidding at least $2.00.

Step 8: Create an Account Structure

  • Account structure refers to how many accounts you create within your Google AdWords account.

There are three types of accounts:

  • Business – This type of account is used for businesses.
  • Agency – Agencies have created this type of account.
  • Non-Profit – Non-profits created this type of account
  • A business account is the most common type of account. Businesses usually have multiple websites. Each website has its own Google AdWords account. So they would typically have one business account.
  • An agency account is similar to a business account, except it’s not tied to a single company or organization. Instead, it’s owned by an agency.
  • Non-profit organizations may choose to create their own Google AdWords account instead of using an agency.

Step 9: Choose Campaigns

  • Choose campaigns to manage your ads.
  • Campaigns are groups of ads that share a goal.
  • For example, there might be a campaign called “Shopping” and another called “Promotions.”
  • These two campaigns both share the same goal – to drive trac t o your shopping site.

Step 10: Manage Keyword Groups

  • Keyword groups are collections of related keywords.
  • You can group keywords so you can easily nd them.
  • To do that, click on the “+” sign next to any keyword group.
  • Then enter words into the search box.
  • The keywords will appear in the dropdown menu.
